I've Read a Book

Why did I choose this particular book?
I chose this book based on the coursework we have been set for year 13. Our overall goal in the coursework is to create a music video so when I saw this book I thought It would be ideal to choose this one which would hopefully give us an insight on how to make the best music video possible. The title of the book is 'Making Music Videos'. Seeing as the book is by a producer I thought the detail that it goes into would be beneficial for the group when trying to think of techniques and tactics to help us plan, film and edit the music video. There's everything you could want to know about when filming a music video from location to filming technique.

What have I read in the book?
This is a book geared towards beginning music video enthusiasts, and this nails it. It guides you step by step throughout the entire music video creation process, and gives you quotes and advice from real life successful people in the field. This book also gives you a detailed outline of every single role and job position there is when it comes to making music videos. I would highly recommend this book for novice and advanced people in the field of music videos. This book gives you very general overview of the clip making process. If you are not familiar with it, it's perfect. You will have an idea who is who, who is responsible for what, how it should works. It's not a technical book for students of cinematography schools, it's for people from outside.

What have I learnt by reading the book?
Overall, the book goes into a load of detail on how to go through every process of making a music video properly. If you were to make a professional music video then reading this book could guide you through each and every step. The detail shown in the book is more than enough for our group to have an improved knowledge on creating music videos. For sure this book will help us achieve a better final product in comparison to what would have been achieved if we'd have gone into the project solo. This book has taught me that it's not just about turning up the day and shooting the music video but it's about the pre-planning, location, shot breakdown and more.

Would I recommend this book to anyone?
I would recommend this book to anyone either doing the same A level course as me or an amateur music video maker. This book runs you through every single step in the process and really gives you an insight into how to make a successful and well worked music video.
